Candangos: Warriors from Brasilia

Candangos or Warriors at Three Powers Plaza in Brasilia.

Candangos are native of Brasilia: workers who built the capital city and came mainly from Northeast.

8 meters high bronze sculpture honors these workers.

Created in 1959 by Bruno Giorgi.

The sculpture has become the symbol of the city.

The name Candango was born in Africa (Angola) – it was how the slaves referred to the Portuguese.
